Cloverdale Old Time Fiddle Festival

Welcome to the 38th Annual Cloverdale Fiddle Festival.

Greetings Fiddlers!

There are some changes to the Cloverdale Fiddle Festival in 2013 that you should be aware of and I hope you will embrace.  These changes weren’t made lightly and had the survival of the event in mind when we agreed to implement them. Please keep this in mind when you review the changes.

The changes include, first and foremost: a new date for the event. The Cloverdale Fiddle Festival will be held the first weekend in May from now on.  In 2013 this will be May 4th & 5th.  This increases the likelihood that the event will be held in sunny weather and during the school year when kids can still participate before taking off for summer vacation.  It also aligns us with other similar events that folks like to attend in sequence weekend after weekend

Another innovation includes same day registration for any division up to one hour before competition.  This aligns us with other fiddle contests in California including the California State Championships in Oroville.  Keep in mind that Cloverdale is still an independent fiddle contest and not subject to the rules of the California State Old Time Fiddle contest.  However Cloverdale is a great warm-up before people head to Weiser, Idaho, for the National Championships.

To enhance participation among non-fiddlers, we have included adult and youth competitions in both the guitar and the mandolin. Rules are posted under CONTESTANTS/RULES.  We expect to have some esteemed players as judges.

A limited number of overnight camping spots will be available.  The Cloverdale Fiddle Festival will be taking reservations for Friday and Saturday nights only. For a fee you may reserve a spot for car, tent, recreation vehicle, and RVs with electricity camping on Friday and Saturday nights by contacting  Mark Hogan at 829-8012 or hogiemoon@comcast.net.   Should you want to stay late on Sunday, you would need to make your arrangements with the Cloverdale Citrus Fairgrounds.

It is my sincere hope that you will continue to support and participate in this fine fiddle festival.  We are implementing changes that we believe will sustain and improve it while carrying on the spirit of old-time fiddling into the future.

Sincerely,

Mark Hogan, Event Director.
